Rum Baba Or Baba Au Rum

Rum Baba Rum Baba – Let’s Dig Into This French Delight !!! In the month of January, while vacationing in Goa, had this amazing dessert called "Rum Baba" at a French restaurant. You may think it's same as Rum Balls. No there is no similarities in both desserts apart from one ingredient that is rum. Rum Baba or Baba Au Rum (French name) is a yeast cake soaked in syrup made with hard liquor, usually rum. It was served to us with whipped cream, strawberry and 30 ml white rum. Yesterday I tried to recreate this dessert with whatever I had in my pantry. Ya presentation of my dessert sucks but trust me it tastes exactly the same or shall I say better 😜. A bit lengthy process though.  So here we go... Ingredients: For baba: 1. Butter:                                                                                           9 tablespoons 2. All-purpose flour:                                                                       2 cups 3. Sugar:

Simple remedy for cough n cold: Jaggery & Turmeric Powder Tablets

This year we faced extreme weather conditions. In Nagpur, we had summer till almost July and monsoon till Diwali. Now it's December and yet winter is not like usual. It's bit cloudy during daytime and cold during nights. Making it difficult for our bodies to adjust to changing temperature. And if your city is under construction mode, you are exposed to dust and dirt. Obviously under such scenario, getting cold and cough is very much natural. But every time popping pills is not a healthy solution.

My son and hubby both are allergic to dust. Plus, my kiddo has joined cricket. That means on the field facing dust and dirt day in and day out. That makes him susceptible to cough and cold. To prevent this, my son has a special bedtime routine. I have made jaggery - turmeric balls which he must eat along with lukewarm water before bedtime. Turmeric has great medicinal properties. But you cannot have it spoonful due to strong flavour. So, combining it with jaggery, it becomes easier to consume. Alternatively, you can have turmeric powder in the warm milk. But since my kid doesn't like milk, I have started giving this laddoes.
To make them you need:

Ingredients:

1. Jaggery (grated):                                              2 teaspoons
2. Turmeric Powder:                                            ¼ teaspoon (I always use homemade)
3. Lukewarm water:                                             1 Glass

Method:

1. Take jaggery in a plate. Soften it. Make sure to use soft variety of jaggery.
2. Add turmeric powder to it. Mix well. Knead the mixture well.
3. Make small balls. With the above proportion you will get 4 tablets enough for two persons.
4. Have it just before bedtime with lukewarm water.

In my family we are following this remedy for generations now for the basic cold n cough.

Follow this routine for this winter and see the good result.....
