Rum Baba Or Baba Au Rum

Rum Baba Rum Baba – Let’s Dig Into This French Delight !!! In the month of January, while vacationing in Goa, had this amazing dessert called "Rum Baba" at a French restaurant. You may think it's same as Rum Balls. No there is no similarities in both desserts apart from one ingredient that is rum. Rum Baba or Baba Au Rum (French name) is a yeast cake soaked in syrup made with hard liquor, usually rum. It was served to us with whipped cream, strawberry and 30 ml white rum. Yesterday I tried to recreate this dessert with whatever I had in my pantry. Ya presentation of my dessert sucks but trust me it tastes exactly the same or shall I say better 😜. A bit lengthy process though.  So here we go... Ingredients: For baba: 1. Butter:                                                                                           9 tablespoons 2. All-purpose flour:                                                                       2 cups 3. Sugar:

Cauliflower and green peas cooked in mom’s style.💓💓💓

Diwali equals to lots of food. We make special snacks - sweet and salty - both. Apart from this, almost every day in my family we have feast during Diwali. Lot of spicy food and eating more than generally what we eat. After a point you feel like eating something simple, soothing yet not boring. So today I made this cauliflower sabji with fresh coconut. I have become particularly nausea-tic to garlic now a days. May be too much of use in our meals these days. This veggie I made today is without onion and garlic and the recipe belongs to my mommy. After eating this, maa ke haath ka khana yaad aa gaya. ðŸ˜‡ðŸ˜‡. Recipe is super simple.

To start with;

Ingredients:

Fresh grated coconut:                                          ½ cup + for garnish
Tomato:                                                                  1 medium sized
Oil:                                                                           3 tablespoons
Mustard seeds:                                                      ¼ teaspoon
Asafoetida:                                                             1-2 pinches
Turmeric powder:                                                 ½ teaspoon
Red chili powder:                                                  1 teaspoon
Cauliflower:                                                            1 medium sized
Green peas:                                                             1 medium sized
Salt:                                                                          As per taste
Garam masala powder:                                        ¼ teaspoon
Water:                                                                      ½ cup
Coriander leaves:                                                   For garnish

Method:

1. Grind together fresh grated coconut and chopped tomato.
2. In a pan heat oil. Add mustard seeds and pinch of asafoetida. Let mustard seeds crackle.
3. Now add coconut & tomato mixture. Sauté till oil separates.
4. Add turmeric powder and red chili powder. Sauté little.
5. Add chopped cauliflower and green peas.
6. Add salt and little garam masala powder. Mix well.
7. Add little water and again mix.
8. Cook covered till veggies are cooked properly.
9. Garnish with grated fresh coconut and coriander leaves.

Very good option if you don't want to use garlic and onions in cooking.

Healthy also as spices and oil is used in moderate quantities.

Enjoy this simple veggie to detoxify your body post all the Diwali binge.
