Rum Baba Or Baba Au Rum

Rum Baba Rum Baba – Let’s Dig Into This French Delight !!! In the month of January, while vacationing in Goa, had this amazing dessert called "Rum Baba" at a French restaurant. You may think it's same as Rum Balls. No there is no similarities in both desserts apart from one ingredient that is rum. Rum Baba or Baba Au Rum (French name) is a yeast cake soaked in syrup made with hard liquor, usually rum. It was served to us with whipped cream, strawberry and 30 ml white rum. Yesterday I tried to recreate this dessert with whatever I had in my pantry. Ya presentation of my dessert sucks but trust me it tastes exactly the same or shall I say better 😜. A bit lengthy process though.  So here we go... Ingredients: For baba: 1. Butter:                                                                                           9 tablespoons 2. All-purpose flour:                                                                       2 cups 3. Sugar:

Refreshing Masala Buttermilk for this Summer!!!!

Summer is knocking... Afternoons are hot now. And all you want is something chilled for "gale ki thandak" 😀. You can choose to drink something unhealthy like cola or super healthy like masala buttermilk. My lunch always includes ultra-refreshing super healthy freshly made chaas or buttermilk on any summer day. Buttermilk as per Ayurveda known to be "elixir". In summer, digestion becomes slow. Our ancestors have included buttermilk in any traditional meal, as it improves digestion. Also, when you don't feel like having food, it enhances taste of your meal. It is good source of protein and a glassful of buttermilk can be your mid-mini meal. 😇 (can skip tea or coffee completely). You can have plain buttermilk also but this one is my favourite.

So here is how make it....

Ingredients:

1. Malai dahi or yogurt:                                     5 cups
2. Water:                                                               1 ½ cups
3. Sugar:                                                                2 teaspoons
4. Cumin powder:                                                1 teaspoon
5. Black salt:                                                          ¼ teaspoon
6. Regular Salt:                                                     As per taste

Method:

1. Churn malai dahi or yogurt using wooden or electric churner.
2. Add water in small quantities and churn again.
3. Add sugar, cumin powder, black salt and regular salt. Churn again. If needed add little water to adjust consistency.

The consistency should not be too thick or too watery.

One of the reasons why I can face Nagpur heat is this butter milk routine. So, this summer choose to drink healthy 👍
