Rum Baba Rum Baba – Let’s Dig Into This French Delight !!! In the month of January, while vacationing in Goa, had this amazing dessert called "Rum Baba" at a French restaurant. You may think it's same as Rum Balls. No there is no similarities in both desserts apart from one ingredient that is rum. Rum Baba or Baba Au Rum (French name) is a yeast cake soaked in syrup made with hard liquor, usually rum. It was served to us with whipped cream, strawberry and 30 ml white rum. Yesterday I tried to recreate this dessert with whatever I had in my pantry. Ya presentation of my dessert sucks but trust me it tastes exactly the same or shall I say better 😜. A bit lengthy process though.  So here we go... Ingredients: For baba: 1. Butter:                                                                                           9 tablespoons 2. Mushroom Fried Rice for perfect Sunday !!!!

Ingredients:

1. Uncooked rice:                                         1 ½ cups
2. Fresh green chilies:                                2
3. Fresh red chili:                                        1 (optional)
4. Garlic:                                                       20 cloves
5. Ginger:                                                      ½ inch piece 
6. Green pepper:                                         2 tablespoons
7. Red pepper:                                             2 tablespoons
8. Colored cabbage:                                   ½ cup (You can use normal cabbage.)
9. Mushrooms:                                           8 
10. Spring onions:                                      3
11. Spring onion greens:                           3
12. Red chili sauce:                                    ¼ teaspoon
13. Soya sauce:                                           1 tablespoon
14. Salt:                                                       As per taste
15. Oil:                                                         3 tablespoons
16. White pepper powder:                      ¼ teaspoon

Method:

1. Parboil rice. Keep a side.
2. Finely chop green chilies, red chilies, garlic, ginger, spring onions with greens.
3. Chop bell peppers into cubes.
4. Cut mushrooms vertically into thin slices.
5. Chop cabbage into juliennes
6. Heat oil in a pan
7. Add garlic & spring onions. Sauté.
8. Add ginger & chilies. Sauté on high flame for 7-8 mins.
9. Add green & red pepper and cabbage. Sauté on high flame for 5-7 mins.
10. Add mushrooms. Stir continuously on high flame for 5 mins.
11. Cook covered for total 8-10 mins on medium heat. Stir occasionally.
12. Remove the lid and stir continuously on high flame for 5 mins to remove any excess water.
13. Add red chili sauce & soya sauce. Sauté on high flame for 2 mins.
14. Add spring onion greens. Mix well.
15. Add rice, salt & pepper. Mix gently on medium flame.
16. Turn off heat & garnish with spring onion greens.

I generally make some soup to accompany this rice. My recipe for lazy Sundays….
