Rum Baba Rum Baba – Let’s Dig Into This French Delight !!! In the month of January, while vacationing in Goa, had this amazing dessert called "Rum Baba" at a French restaurant. You may think it's same as Rum Balls. No there is no similarities in both desserts apart from one ingredient that is rum. Rum Baba or Baba Au Rum (French name) is a yeast cake soaked in syrup made with hard liquor, usually rum. It was served to us with whipped cream, strawberry and 30 ml white rum. Yesterday I tried to recreate this dessert with whatever I had in my pantry. Ya presentation of my dessert sucks but trust me it tastes exactly the same or shall I say better 😜. A bit lengthy process though.  So here we go... Ingredients: For baba: 1. Butter:                                                                                           9 tablespoons 2. Healthy “Gul - Papdi” Vadi (Made Up of Jaggery, Whole Wheat Flour & Ghee) For Munching …..

As with all moms, I am also running out of options for healthy munchies. Easy way out is get something out of store. But as a mother, I don't want to feed my kid something which is unhealthy. Current situation demands healthy and homemade food to keep ourselves strong.
Gul-Papadi vadi is made of only three ingredients i.e. whole wheat flour, jaggery and ghee. All of them are healthy. You can make them in bulk and store. Serve it with some homemade chivda and you are sorted. A good healthy evening snacks is ready.

So here we go….

Ingredients:

1. Whole wheat flour:                                                          2 cups
2. Ghee:                                                                                  1 cup
3. Jaggery:                                                                              1 ¼ cups

Method:

1. Grate jaggery.
2. Grease shallow dish with little ghee. Keep aside.
3. Heat ghee in a pan or kadhai. Add wheat flour.
4. Roast flour till aromatic and nicely brown.
5. Turn off heat and keep stirring.
6. Within 2-3 minutes, add grated jaggery. Mix well.
7. Pour this mixture into greased dish. Spread evenly.
8. Cut into diamond shape immediately. Let it set for ½ hour.
9. Remove and store in airtight container.



Your healthy “Gul - Papdi” Vadi ready for munching!!!!
