Rum Baba Or Baba Au Rum

Rum Baba Rum Baba – Let’s Dig Into This French Delight !!! In the month of January, while vacationing in Goa, had this amazing dessert called "Rum Baba" at a French restaurant. You may think it's same as Rum Balls. No there is no similarities in both desserts apart from one ingredient that is rum. Rum Baba or Baba Au Rum (French name) is a yeast cake soaked in syrup made with hard liquor, usually rum. It was served to us with whipped cream, strawberry and 30 ml white rum. Yesterday I tried to recreate this dessert with whatever I had in my pantry. Ya presentation of my dessert sucks but trust me it tastes exactly the same or shall I say better 😜. A bit lengthy process though.  So here we go... Ingredients: For baba: 1. Butter:                                                                                           9 tablespoons 2. All-purpose flour:                                                                       2 cups 3. Sugar:

My mom’s recipe of Khajur Ladoo or Date Balls

Mums are really great. They find out innovative ways to make their kids eat different type of food. Today I tried my mum's recipe of "Khajur Ladooes" Or Date balls. Mum used to make this for me and my sister when we were kids. I call it Date Bomb 🙃🙃. They are full of nutrients and can be consumed as a quick snack. Also very simple and easy to make.

Ingredients:

Cashews (kaju)
Almonds (badam)
Walnuts (akrod)
Pistachios (pista)
Unseeded dates (khajur)
Ghee (clarified butter)

Method:

1. Grind separately to powder cashews, almonds, walnuts and pistachios. I have used all in equal quantities.
2. Cut unseeded dates into small pieces.
3. In a heated pan add ghee (just a half spoon or so).

4. Add cut dates. Sauté continuously for 2-3 minutes on medium flame. Sauté just enough to make one big ball. Remove from heat.
5. In a pan, mix together dry fruit powders and date mixture while date mixture is hot. Knead well.
6. Make round small balls while the mixture is warm. Store in an air tight container.

Just a caution.... Overeating these bombs can land you in trouble 😄
