Rum Baba Or Baba Au Rum

Rum Baba Rum Baba – Let’s Dig Into This French Delight !!! In the month of January, while vacationing in Goa, had this amazing dessert called "Rum Baba" at a French restaurant. You may think it's same as Rum Balls. No there is no similarities in both desserts apart from one ingredient that is rum. Rum Baba or Baba Au Rum (French name) is a yeast cake soaked in syrup made with hard liquor, usually rum. It was served to us with whipped cream, strawberry and 30 ml white rum. Yesterday I tried to recreate this dessert with whatever I had in my pantry. Ya presentation of my dessert sucks but trust me it tastes exactly the same or shall I say better 😜. A bit lengthy process though.  So here we go... Ingredients: For baba: 1. Butter:                                                                                           9 tablespoons 2. All-purpose flour:                                                                       2 cups 3. Sugar:

Aappe- Power packed healthy breakfast 👊👊

Happy Monday everyone.... Monday is the first day of a week. A day after a short break of Sunday. Monday demands more energy as you start your hectic routine after Sunday's rest. A power packed breakfast is must on Monday for the smooth sailing of the day as well as week ahead. So today I made "Aappe" - a kind of puffed ball - similar to idli. Weekends means parties, binging non healthy stuff and no work outs 😅😅. Aappe is perfect wholesome meal to start your day and appetite on a happy, healthy note. So here it is:

Ingredients:

1. Rice
2. Split chickpea lentils
3. Split black lentils
4. Finely chopped onions
5. Ginger-garlic-green chilli- coriander paste
6. Salt
7. Oil

Method:

1. Soak separately rice, split chickpea lentils and split black lentils in 2:1:1 portion for 6 - 8 hours. 2. After soaking well, grind rice and lentils (dals) separately in a mixer grinder without water. Now add all the grinded mixtures in a bigger pot and mix well. Let it sit for overnight and it will ferment. Your batter is ready. You can make it in advance and store it in the fridge.  3. So when you want to make aappe, take out some batter in a smaller pan, add salt, finely chopped onion and ginger-garlic-green chilli- coriander paste. Mix well.  4. Heat special griddle call aappe pan (It is a griddle with compartments available online) and apply oil to each compartment.  5. Add little batter in each compartment with spoon. Cover and cook from one side. Once done change side and cook again but this time without cover.

You can feast upon this yummy, delicious and healthy breakfast to charge your day.

Serve hot with coconut chutney.

Happy and healthy eating 😃👍👉
