Rum Baba Or Baba Au Rum

Rum Baba Rum Baba – Let’s Dig Into This French Delight !!! In the month of January, while vacationing in Goa, had this amazing dessert called "Rum Baba" at a French restaurant. You may think it's same as Rum Balls. No there is no similarities in both desserts apart from one ingredient that is rum. Rum Baba or Baba Au Rum (French name) is a yeast cake soaked in syrup made with hard liquor, usually rum. It was served to us with whipped cream, strawberry and 30 ml white rum. Yesterday I tried to recreate this dessert with whatever I had in my pantry. Ya presentation of my dessert sucks but trust me it tastes exactly the same or shall I say better 😜. A bit lengthy process though.  So here we go... Ingredients: For baba: 1. Butter:                                                                                           9 tablespoons 2. Mango Halwa for this Gudi Padwa

Today is "Gudi Padwa". New year for Marathi community of India. Most of the Indian festivals are celebrated considering changing weather conditions. Now today onwards summer becomes more and more intense. Most of the rituals followed by are as protection against the changing weather. Also as summer starts, season for the most favourite fruit of Indians - mango - starts. Today I made Mango Halwa for Prasadam or offering to the God. To make this yummitious Halwa you need

Ingredients:

1. Ghee (clarified butter)
2. Semolina
3. Milk
4. Fresh mango pulp
5. Sugar
6. Cashews
7. Raisins
8. Few sticks of saffron

Method:

1. In a heated pan add enough of ghee.
2. Add semolina. Roast it till aromatic on low heat. Sauté constantly.
3. Add little milk - around a cup - and mango pulp. Sauté.
4. Cook covered for a minute.
5. Add sugar. Amount of sugar depends upon sweetness of the mango.
6. Add cashew, raisins and few sticks of saffron. And again cook covered for a minute. Serve hot. 

Do try this easy, delightful and tempting sweet.
